Supplication

The white faucet weeps out of sorrow,

As two lovers once wept at her departure.

A carrier pigeon landed beside me,

And in its beak, a message of love and tenderness.

She said, while I lay on the bed of death:

“My beloved, we shall meet in the same place.”

So my tears stream down my cheek,

And your tears burn the heart and the soul.

O you, unjust time, you come

Stirring what remains of pain.

I thought you had sent to me with her

Joy, supplication, and dreams.

She dwelt in the heart in a moment of weakness,

And I whispered to the heart and the ruins.

Morning increased my anguish when

I heard a voice from you and words.

I bid farewell to my loved ones and carried my shroud,

And I walked forward on foot.

I walked long upon a path,

A long one, while above me pigeons flew.

O my love, why the abandonment, when you had planted

A rose in the desert of peace?

مناجاة

تبكي الحنفية البيضاء من أسف 

كما بكى لفراقها إلفان

حطت بجانبي حمامة زاجلة

وفي منقارها رسالة حب وحنان

قالت وأنا على سرير الموت

يا حبيبي سنلتقي في نفس المكان

فدمعي ينهمر على وجنتي

ودمعك يحرق القلب والوجدان

ألا أنت أيها الزمان الظالم تأتي

تحرك ما تبقى من الآلام

خلت أنك بعثت لي معها

سرورا ومناجاة وأحلام

سكنت الفؤاد في لحظة ضعف

وناجيت الفؤاد والحطام

زاد الصباح من لوعتي عندما

سمعت صوتا منك وكلام

ودعت أحبتي وحملت كفني

ومشيت سيرا على الأقدام

مشيت طويلا على درب

طويل وفوقي يطير الحمام

ألا حبي لم الهجر وأنت زرعت

وردا في صحراء السلام
